Drivers travelling on the A30 today are being urged to take care, with motorists advised to check traffic conditions before setting out as congestion and incidents can develop quickly along the major route.
The A30 is one of the main roads connecting communities across Devon and Cornwall, carrying significant amounts of local and long-distance traffic. Any collision, breakdown or road restriction can therefore lead to delays and queues.
At present, I have not found a reliable report confirming a major A30 accident on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Recent coverage has nevertheless highlighted safety concerns on sections of the A30. Cornwall Live reported yesterday on dangerous U-turns being made along a stretch of the road where serious and fatal collisions have previously occurred.
Separately, recent work was carried out on a bridge over the A30 in Launceston after surveys found water ingress.
A30 Traffic and Delays
Motorists should remain alert for changing conditions, particularly around busy junctions and areas affected by roadworks or previous collisions. Drivers should follow police and highway authorities’ instructions and avoid making dangerous manoeuvres when traffic slows.
The A30 has previously been the scene of serious crashes. In May, a collision in Cornwall resulted in the deaths of brothers Tobias and Finlay Rice, with their family later paying tribute to them.
For today’s A30 traffic, drivers should check live road updates before travelling and allow extra time where possible.
This report will be updated if confirmed information about a new A30 collision, road closure or major traffic disruption becomes available.
